Corrigan raced to the south bulwark to protect Nataliah, getting the protective bubble around her at the last second allowing her to hold the line against the surging Scourge army. His relief was cut short as he heard a cry behind him as the line around Rufus collapsed beneath a fresh surge of ghouls pressing forward.
Rufus cursed in Dwarvish and cut several down with broad swings of his axe, but he was quickly buried in the tide, his squat form disappearing in a sea of Scourge ghouls and abominations. Corrigan was too late to save his friend and felt their link break, disconnecting him from the rest of his forces.
The link severed, the lines collapsed under the weight of the assault. The Scourge surged over the fortifications, cutting down everyone in their path. With Rufus’ men no longer holding the North, the Eastern line was being undermined from the back, driving Rondrey back against Corrigan and his personal guard.
They fought a holding action but were slowly being pressed against Nataliah’s forces to the South. Corrigan pushed his aura out to protect those near him, though it was only a slight help with the number of men under his protection.
The thin barrier around Nataliah collapsed and she was torn away from the line by greedy hands of the ghouls, her battle cry drowned by the sound of the South line collapsing and the men there dying. Rondrey was next; he and his men run down by a Death Knight and his ghoul cohort. There was a flash of light as Corrigan erected his failsafe protection and started to activate his hearthstone, the mobs of undead pressing on the shield, blocking out any other sight. The barrier failed just as the comforting flash of light emanated from the hearthstone.
Corrigan opened his eyes, expecting to be in Dalaran, but instead finding himself in his command tent. He was surprised to see Rondrey, Rufus, and Nataliah gathered around him, helping him to his feet.
“Good ta see yuh, boy!” Rufus barked out, clapping him on the back. Corrigan looked around, and things were subtly different. Nataliah looked at him, her eyes glowing with energy cool blue, like the glaciers of Icecrown. “The troops are ready and await your orders,” she reported, casting aside the tent’s flap revealing the ranks of ghouls, death knights and abominations gearing up for battle. The first orders from the Lich King rolled through his head, undeniable and irrefutable. “Move out and take the rest of Dragonblight,” he ordered.
The rest of Dragonblight fell within the day, Northrend within the week and the rest of Azeroth within the year…

! Great turn of events. The stealthy change of faction was a great idea o_o I envy it haha. Well done.
What did you expect at a Death Knight Blog? ;P
Another brilliant post. I’m very proud of my little group today.
You really made us feel the weight of Corrigan making an emotional decision instead of a tactical one.
Thanks!
Nicely done. I had not anticipated that path leading to more Death Knights!
